About Matt
Originally from the West Coast, Matt grew up in the high desert of Southern California where he played football and baseball and met his now wife, Megan, in high school.
While earning his bachelor’s degree in political science at California State University, Bakersfield, Matt completed numerous political internships working for both local city council members and members of Congress in California and Washington, D.C.
During this time, Matt also strengthened the community through recreation and youth education by working year-round as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the local YMCA and volunteering as a youth baseball coach each spring.
After graduation, Matt and Megan got married and Matt served in the electrical department of his hometown where he explained complex utility regulations and their impact to local residents.
Two years later, they moved to Ohio where Matt attended law school at the University of Akron School of Law. During law school, Matt worked as a judicial law clerk where he managed the judge’s civil case dockets.
Both during law school and in his legal practice, Matt has conducted research on legal issues facing faith-based organizations and the First Amendments freedom of religion.
Matt and Megan currently live in the Chicago area with their two daughters. Matt enjoys spending time outside with his family, watching baseball, and playing disc golf.
